Crestron launch next Gen Digitalmedia 8G+ digital AV Network technology

Crestron have announced their third generation digital AV network technology.  The system will distribute any mix of digital and analogue AV signals over a single cable.  That indicates uncompressed 1080p HD video, 3D video, and high-definition computer signals, plus HD digital audio, control, data, and Ethernet and even 4K video in the future.

Crestron has introduced its new DigitalMedia 8G+, the next generation of its revolutionary high output, one-wire digital AV network technology. using a broader choice of cabling options DigitalMedia 8G+ makes the implementation of a DM network even much easier by using a choice of standard CAT5e, DM 8G® cord or CresFiber 8G which supplies a future-proof digital backbone.

“Our DigitalMedia technology has redefined the advances in AV and digital technology and stands head-and-shoulders above any comparative product,” says Robin van Meeuwen, Managing director at Crestron UK. “While the competition plays catch up, Crestron’s new 8G+ is our third generation of this technology and our installers tell us how the demanding projects they are installing now would not have been possible without 8G.”

DigitalMedia is the only engineered, end-to-end option that carries essentially any mix of digital and analogue AV signals over a single wire. Uncompressed 1080p HD video with Deep Colour, 3D video, and high-definition computer signals, plus HD digital audio, control, data, and Ethernet, are transmitted 100 metres over standard CAT5e or DM 8G cable, or 300 metres using CresFiber 8G. DigitalMedia 8G+ supplies a future-proof infrastructure and makes sure that the highest resolutions, Deep Colour, 4K projectors and other emerging technologies can be efficiently distributed and managed for years to come.

“DigitalMedia 8G+ is the only platform that will carry and distribute all digital and analogue signals across one wire – using a single IP address – and does so while eliminating all HDCP issues,” adds Robin. “With 8G+ the entire DM network of an installation appears as a single device on the corporate LAN, making it easy for technicians to install and simplifying its management for the end-user.

Crestron DigitalMedia is able to get rid of the common frustrations and problems usually thrown up by HDMI. limited transmission distances, HDCP copy protection, CEC and EDID management issues are all ironed out with 8G+ and it is the only digital standard recognized by CEDIA and InfoComm.
