Here’s a very first look at some quite special pre-release sample units of the “IR Anywhere” system from Keene Electronics. The new system enables you to send Infra Red remote manage signals across your network cabling, however unlike other systems that just utilize the feline as a medium to send the electrical signals, IR Anywhere really converts the infra red into packet data for transmission across your LAN through TCP/IP. The signals are got at the module with the IP address they were sent to where they are de-coded as well as output back as IR
Interestingly Keene tell us they will be releasing info on the code style they use, enabling anybody to interface to the units to send IR over TCP/IP.
