It’s a unfortunate day for enthusiasts of the Philips variety of Pronto universal remote controls.  According to CE pro Philips has pulled the plug totally on the Pronto business after 2 years of looking for a buyer.

Corporate speak states that the Pronto “activity no longer fits with the Philips strategy”.  We still have our original old eco-friendly Pronto from the 90’s – one of the extremely very first bits of wise house tech we given the Automated Home.  checked out on (with a tear in your eye) for the release…

“In December 2009, Philips revealed the intention to move a few of its existing remote manage activities in Leuven, Belgium to Asia. At the exact same time, the intention was communicated to investigate alternate strategic choices for the Pronto business, as this activity no longer fits with the Philips strategy. complying with complete research, no appropriate partner was discovered for the purchase of these activities. As such, Philips confirms today that it will discontinue the Pronto product line as well as associated activities.”
